How We're Celebrating This Year
“My 10-year-old recently made a batch of Maybe the Very Best Chocolate Chip Cookies, one of Lisa’s recipes in Dandelion’s Making Chocolate book. For Mother’s Day, in addition to the always adorable hand-drawn cards from our five kids, I’m hoping for more of those cookies, plus some bonbons from the Hanami Collection or my own stash of the Spice Fermentation Bars (hint, hint!).”
“For Mother’s Day, I like the idea of chocolates that can be shared with the whole family — something we can enjoy together around the table after dinner. This year I’m thinking of celebrating with the Single-Origin Truffle Collection. No matter how many times I’ve had them, I’m always impressed by how much the tasting notes differ when comparing one origin to another.”
“How is it that I want my children to stay close always but also to embrace life wherever and however far it takes them? That is the crux of being a mom, and I love having a day dedicated to celebrating such a beautiful juxtaposition. This year, I’m giving my mom the Halva Bonbons. Their contrasting textures and earthy, nutty, chocolatey flavors are…wow.”
Our Story
We're Dandelion Chocolate, a bean-to-bar chocolate maker in San Francisco's Mission District. For over ten years, we've been turning cocoa beans and organic sugar into single-origin dark chocolate. We travel and build lasting relationships with cocoa farmers and producers, then craft small batches of chocolate back home in our factory. With a minimal approach, we aim to highlight different cocoa beans' distinctive flavor notes — from classic fudge to tangy fruit.
People
Our relationships with cocoa producers are based on trust, communication, and transparency. We work with those who care as much about producing great beans as we do about making great chocolate.
Ingredients
Since we began, our single-origin chocolate has remained just two ingredients: cocoa beans and organic cane sugar. We focus on bringing out the nuances within each variety of cocoa bean.
Quality
For consistent quality, we work closely with those who grow, ferment, and dry the cocoa beans we source. While beans from each origin differ slightly every harvest (to our delight), we strive to always share distinctive cocoa with you.
