Hijita (pronounced ee-hee-tah) is a small-batch craft chocolate company that showcases single-origin cocoa and botanicals from family farms and co-ops in southern Mexico. Each creation is a reflection of head chocolatier Ashley Ugarte's Mexican-American identity — evoking nostalgic childhood flavors while honoring ancestral traditions. Ashley began her confectionery career at Dandelion Chocolate, where she developed a deep appreciation for the ethical sourcing and technical craftsmanship involved in bean-to-bar chocolate. Inspired by these principles, she founded Hijita to carry them forward while contributing to the environmental sustainability and cultural integrity of Mexican cacao.
