This secret challenge is dedicated to the Specializedtools which is one of Todd’s favorite daily reads. From the image, see if you can guess the name of the chocolate-making or confectionery tool and its function.
Correct! Grindometer
Electric versions exist but you use a paint scraper to spread chocolate on this metal surface to determine your chocolate particle sizes.

Correct! We use the bicycle for cutting even strips of cookies or other pastry doughs as an alternative to cookie cutters and knife cutters. One regret – we wish a version like this existed for marshmallows. Using a bicycle on marshmallows is kind of like biking in the snow, you don’t get very far and it gets very messy.

Correct! Not to be confused with the amphibian, a salamander is used to toast the creme brulee by holding it slightly above a layer of sugar. Ideally your salamander is the same diameter as your ramekin.

Correct! Not to be confused with incriminating evidence, our smoking gun is used for imbuing smoky flavors into marshmallows and ganaches. Small wood chips are placed inside the head of the gun, lit on fire, and then the smoke is blown through the hose into a sealed container.

Belated April Fools! This has absolutely nothing to do with chocolate making and we hope you weren’t stumped for too long. This is just a very random drinking thermos shaped like a disco ball that a team member picked up in Las Vegas. Thanks for being a good sport and hope we share a similar sense of humor 🙂
