Notes of brownie, strawberry, and fresh cream
Maya Mountain Cacao (MMC) is a social enterprise established to connect small-scale cacao growers in Belize with the international specialty-cocoa market. Located in Toledo, near the coast, they were the first company in the country to buy wet beans from farmers, and to emphasize the importance of bean quality. MMC currently buys from 450 farmers who are registered and certified organic — the majority of whom identify as indigenous Q’eqchi’ and Mopan Maya.
notes from the maker
"I really admire the founder of Maya Mountain Cacao, Emily Stone. She saw the struggle cocoa farmers in Belize were facing and not only wanted to better their circumstances but she also set out to make the farmers excited about the cocoa they grow. I’m thrilled to put my flavor stamp on an origin that has been in our bar lineup for thirteen years."
